GI Pathology is the study of intestinal biopsies. GI Pathology helps identify inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), Barrett’s esophagus, gastristis (e.g. damage from Helicobacter and NSAID), colonic neoplasia (e.g. polyps and adenocarcinoma), Celiac disease, Hepatitis C, Hemochromatosis, and Hepatic tumors. It is very important that your biopsy is processed properly and the diagnosis is accurate so that the proper treatment can be received.
